MINI Cooper ’S’ gets a sporty transformation!

A new customer to Velocity Factor recently brought us her 2015 MINI Cooper S F55 Sedan for some incredible upgrades! Inspired by a friend’s MINI Cooper she knew what she wanted to accomplish including looks, performance, and handling alike. As you can see, the car is wrapped in bright pink highlighting her love for the color. To give the car a more aggressive look, we started by blacking out all of the chrome on the car including the entire belt-line (the band of chrome below the windows and windshield all around the car) with a custom-wrapped vinyl. This was followed by obtaining a host of parts including gloss black headlight surround trim, taillight surround trim, door handle covers, gas cap cover, grille surround and grille slat covers too. The factory MINI badges front and rear were then given beautifully finished gloss-carbon fiber covers, which were then matched with a pair of gloss carbon fiber side scuttle covers. The factory corner markers and side scuttle lenses then received custom tint film to achieve the “smoke” effect without impinging on their functionality. The rear “Cooper ’S’” chrome lettering was replaced with custom blacked out ones including a red ’S’ with black trim as well. Custom white brake caliper covers were ordered and installed Then the factory antennae, which is quite tall was swapped for an OEM “Stubby” antennae and the windows tinted with 3M Ceramic Tint all around. The customer then specified custom vinyl stickers for her side view mirrors and rear quarter windows which we were happy to apply.

When it came to the wheels, Velocity Factor helped the customer choose a set of beautiful and affordable Advanti Hybris Wheels, in a gloss black finish going up in size to 17 inches from the stock 16 inch wheels. Instead of using the standard Advanti center caps, and keeping with the car’s theme Velocity factor had a set of custom vinyl inserts made in black with the MINI logo in white to match the roof and side-view mirrors. When it came to tires, the stock run-flats which are both heavy in weight and a bit harsh and noisy on the road were swapped for some serious Hankook performance tires. H&R Sport Lowering Springs dropped the car just over an inch all-around, and when you “decrease the altitude, you increase the attitude”! This also helped with the car’s handling as well without compromising ride quality as H&R quality products always deliver. A precise 4-wheel laser alignment was performed to ensure the car tracked and handled to it’s utmost potential.

As for power, a new NM Engineering Power Module along with a K&N Typhoon Cold Air intake were installed. The combination of both added approximately 35 horsepower and ft./lbs. of torque alike. It also gave the car a nice and distinctive sound which can certainly be appreciated under both acceleration and deceleration. The enhanced power and throttle response was immediately noticed and made the car a lot more fun to drive, not to mention a slight bump in gas mileage to under normal cruising conditions.

Have a look at the before and after pictures for yourself and you’ll see the transformation of the car from “cute” to “sporty” We at Velocity Factor are always happy to help individualize our customer’s cars and this project was certainly a special one. Look out for this quick MINI Cooper ’S’ on the roads of South Florida and at many of the car shows and events throughout the region!
