A new customer for Velocity Factor brought in his new 2016 BMW 435i for a little modification. The car was brand new and the customer was concerned about not voiding his factory warranty. Because the customer did not want to void the warranty, it limits what upgrades you can put into the vehicle. He wanted the vehicle to be a little louder but wanted to retain the luxury feel of his ride, so no loud system with a ton of in-cabin drone. Check out some photos below of his ride before we started working on it, notice the stock ride height.
Once we got the car up on the lift we began by removing the wheels to access the stock shocks. We replaced the stock shocks with brand new H&R Lowering Springs. These springs drop the ride very slightly, only 1 to 2 inches depending on the vehicle, while also stiffening up the suspension overall. Here is a picture of the stock spring compared to the H&R.
After the suspension job was all finished we started on the exhaust. We went with a Magnaflow Cat-Back exhaust for this particular build. It met every expectation the customer had: not really loud on start up, no in-cabin drone, nice aggressive sound in higher RPMs. This exhaust system also comes with a valve to mimic the stock system, meaning the valve opens up at certain times during acceleration. Check out the difference between the stock system and the Magnaflow, notice the valve system between the muffler and the exhaust tip on the driver side on the vehicle.
After finishing the exhaust we were very satisfied with the results. Some of the stock wheel gap was reduced with the H&R Springs, giving the car a more aggressive stance and improved cornering. This exhaust not only hit the nail on the head when it came to sound, it also looks MUCH better than the stock one did.
