The Porsche Boxter S is a solid baseline for a track car. This is a car that can be used as both track car and daily driver. The S model of the 987 already comes from the factory with upgraded brakes and suspension components. We decided to focus our attention on engine performance to improve the straight line speed of this Boxter. A big part of track days is also tires. You need the tires that can take you to the track and back. When possible we recommend on having a separate set of wheels and tires for track use. Taking this route will actually save you money down the road as you won’t need to replace tires as often. Racing on a track on a hot Florida day will wear your tires very quick. We installed a set of Hankook RS3 max performance summer tires. These tires are sticky! Better tires calls for more power. We installed a full exhaust system made by FVD. We selected the Brombacher line due to its reputation for quality, power and sound. This exhaust system includes the M&M Edition Sport Headers. We always recommend upgrading both the intake and the exhaust simultaneously. We matched a FabSpeed air intake with an IPD Plenum. The IPD Plenum includes a 911 GT3 throttle body for better response. To complete this install we uploaded our very own ecu tuning. This tuning was custom-made specifically for this build. It maximizes the new bolt-on parts on this particular Boxter S. We transformed this Boxter S from a fine German roadster into a precise track car. We greatly improved the performance of this Porsche without sacrificing every day use. Next for this Boxter S is a Big Brake Kit. Braking power will be a match to the straight line speed of this Porsche. A solid investment for any track day enthusiast such as the owner of this Boxter S.
Update – We have now installed a StopTech Big Brake Kit on this Porsche Boxter S. The rotors of this kit are considerably larger in diameter and are slotted for efficient heat and gas extraction. This kit comes ready to install with all the hardware necessary including steel braided brake lines and high temperature brake pads. Unlike the factory calipers, the Stoptech calipers have six pistons for better brake force distribution and firmer brake pedal. These calipers are finished in gloss red paint and are simply a work of art. They look amazing behind the piano black wheels on this 987 Boxter S. Nothing inspires confidence at the track like a proper brake setup. Our client will be able to consistently brake harder and deeper lap after lap next time at the track. We have turned this Boxter S into a track weapon.
